Craving the Kick of Chili? Dive into Pad Kra Pao Today!
Pad Kra Pao (ผัดกะเพรา) or Holy Basil Stir-Fried: a stir-fried dish infused with fragrances from holy basil (called Kra Pao in Thai), chili, and garlic with a protein of choice (chicken, beef, pork, tofu, seafood or anything!). It's a staple and comfort food of the Thai street food scene. Pad Kra Pao is a quick and easy meal one can find in every street corner of Thailand, particularly enjoyed as a light dinner. It's also a popular choice for late-night dining and home-cooked meals. Holy basil infused with heat in the dish gives it a unique, slightly peppery flavor, which is complemented by the spiciness of chili and the richness of protein. The dish is often served with a fried egg on top, adding another layer of flavor and texture.
If you're looking to indulge in the exotic flavors of Thai cuisine, TAAN THAI Pad Kra Pao is here to serve. But caution; it’s hot!

3. Stir-fry thoroughly and add a pack of TAAN THAI Pad Kra Pao Mix, already included dried Thai Kra Pao leaves, to the pan. Continue to stir-fry until the meat is cooked. Enjoy your home-cooked Pad Kra Pao! Feel free to add more salt or fish sauce, or sugar to your liking.
Recommendation: add a fried egg and enjoy with rice.
I frequently make Thai food, and was very excited to try the pad kra pao! I used ground chicken instead of pork, and followed the instructions, including adding the fried egg on top at the end. The package is a powder, not a sauce, but it dissolves well into the protein after you cook it. The basil stems were a little hard, but if you soak them in a bit of water, or add a little water with the dish, it will likely soften them up and mitigate that problem. It was incredibly flavorful, and I only added a small amount of fish sauce at the end for a bit more of that flavor. For those who want easy to make Thai food without needing all the specialty ingredients, I would definitely recommend this product.
Yesterday, when there were floods in Chiang Mai, I had a chance to taste authentic TAAN THAI pad kra pao with the Basil fried corn menu. It is very easy to make. Just put a pan on the stove, add oil, add corn 🌽, add extra chili (I like the spicy taste) 🌶 , and of course, add the TAAN THAI pad kra pao and stir fry for a while. I enjoyed the corn basil with a cold beer.
And the next menu is Khao Soi 🍜🤤
The most important thing is that it can be carried anywhere because it's a small size. LOVE IT!!!!
Pad Kra Pao is a staple dish in Thai communities in Thailand and abroad. It's also the food I miss the most while staying in the US. A lot of Thai restaurants around here have their own take on Pad Kra Pao, unlike what I'm used to back in Thailand, but this product is exactly what I've been looking for. It's easy, tasty, and authentic!
I'm so happy I've found it!

I recently tried Taan Thai’s instant cooking powder, and I’m thoroughly impressed! The Kra Pao powder, in particular, is the best I’ve ever used. It delivers an authentic, bold flavor that makes cooking quick and easy. Just a spoonful transforms any dish into a delicious Thai meal with rich, aromatic spices. It’s perfect for anyone who wants a convenient way to enjoy Thai cuisine at home. Highly recommended!
